Project: Big Boss

Partnering with Hamra Digital on its addition to graffiti games at Play NYC. Taking Hamra Digital’s concept art for the playable bosses, I re-created it in 3D as well as rigging and animating the base animations. The effects were done later for the game by Hamra Digital. If you would like to see the final look go to hamradigital.com or the Play NYC website. As well as my Work in progress blog, where you can view pictures of the event by clicking the button below.

Base Mesh of the Singed Gear

Keeping it simple I created the mesh to be easily rigged quickly by using basic shaped primitives.

Singed Gear Textured

This changed to a more simple and darker color scheme used for the game for the pixelation.

Singed Gear Rig

The rig of the Singed Gear, weight painting was simplified since it was mostly primitive shapes. The gears on the knees poke out if it crouches real low but is a pretty fun rig to work with.

Animation Test: Singed Gear

Some of the Animations used in the game that were modified for the pixel art style. Sadly the Singed Gear was not used in the first build of Big Boss.

Concept Art for the Revenant

Other than the original sprite image this was all I had to create it.

Started With the skull

Then on the body mesh

Setting the rig

Stated with a basic human shape, then exaggerated to work on the model.

Animation

Animating the basic movement of the character with effects done later for the game by Hamra Digital.
